i cant resist any longer!
i held back as long as i could, but now i gotta get back on the soap box.

bush vetoed the SCHIP bill!

just to reiterate, BUSH VETOED a bill that would have provided 35 BILLION DOLLARS worth of HEALTH CARE for poor sick CHILDREN. and this was going to be PAID FOR, by an increced tax on CIGARETTES!!!

when did bush change from a studdering bumpkin to FUCKING EMPEROR PALPATINE!?!?

he defended himself by saying something to the effect of "me dubeya, me got decision making job. in other words, me job making decisions. socialised health care bad, me no like goverment provided health care."

yes socialised health care. because who wants the government decideding what you can and cant die from at six years old... exept hes just decided that for us. yeah, and when your parents make less that ten thousand a year, you dont want to get suckered into a program like government provided health care. i mean whats next, little slips of paper about the size of a stamp you can pick up and go trade for food, because you cant afford to buy bread? what are they gunna do provide free mandatory vaccines to school children? dont they desearve the right to starve and get smallpox? you cant take that away by forcing government run health care on them. you should just let the children get their health insurance from where they work. wait, i think i hear one asking for "some more" that sounds like communist talk to me. time to flog him twenty lashes about the face and neck.

not even hamilton,  reagan, and nixon, combined would be this much of a dick.

we should bring back the guillotine and give this mother fucker a drum roll.

Hamilton? Do you mean Alexander Hamilton? Because he was never a president. Plus he died in 1804 or thereabouts...I doubt anything he said or did during his lifetime would be applicable to the social issues of today. Of course, if you were meaning someone else by the name of Hamilton, I apologize for the confusion.

I disagree with the basis of funding for this bill. Why should smokers be taxed for it? Increase of taxes will not solve the health care issue. Perhaps reviewing where funds are going already and redistributing it appropriately would be more effective.

actually i was talking about alexander hamilton. and although he was never president himself, he was the head of the federalist party and was basically president maker for several administrations.

as to what hamilton did during his lifetime that has relevence to todays current issues: hamilton deliberatly subverted american diplomatic activities, in jays treaty 1795. england was impressing american sailors into its navy, and stealing american ships to help them fight the french. america sent john jay to put pressure on england to stop doing that and to get them to sign a traty that stated they would stop. hamilton knew this in advance and sent a letter to england telling them that we would not go to war with them if they didnt sign the treaty.

most of the people hamilton got elected were basically his administrative finger puppets. and in the adams administration the alien and sedition acts were passed, increasing the naturalisation time for immigrants from 5 years to 14 years, in an effort to stem the political power of the democratic republicans, it also granted power to the government to arrest or expell any "dangerous aliens" and made it illegal to criticize the government.

im sure you can see the obvious paralells to certon policies being used today. for a while i kept making the joke "i say, im lil alexander hamilton. vote for my party, or its a violation of the alien and sedition acts, and i shall throw you in jail and force you to vote for it there."

as for the funding of the schip bill, im less concerned about it being funded by a tax on cigarettes and more concerned about it providing health care for low income children. the cigarettes being a part of it was just a little ironic chocolate syrup on the ice cream.

That's horrible! I can't even think of the words to adequately describe how completely insane that is!
Maybe they should consider putting a dollar in a jar for every stupid thing he or someone else in the white house does. That should fund a healthcare system for a long while, as far as I'm concerned.

the only bad part about that is, that it would be the government that puts the dollars in the jars, and the government gets its money from taxing its people. so we would be still end up paying the price for polutitions fuckups. and with the tax brachets weighted the way they are now, that would end up killing the middle class off entirely. and the middle class is about the only armour the poor proletariat has, and im guessing the only reason why i am called poor, instead of peasant.

now you know why they call economics "the dismal science."
